Ovid’s Metamorphosis “Pyramus and Thisbe”
Even though Dr Edwin could not make it to class today, we were still assigned by him to do some work. Today, we were assigned to read Ovid’s Metamorphosis “Pyramus and Thisbe.” However, we were not just to read it. We then have to summarize the story and prepare a set induction and pre-reading activity. Luckily, I kind of have some idea of this story since we used to read and watch Midsummer Night’s Dream and there are some part of the play that tells about Pyramus and Thisbe. We were assigned to do this task in pairs. I think the trilling part in doing this task is when summarising the story. My partner, Adibah and I have miscounted the words. So, instead of completing the task earlier, we have taken a longer time compared to others. Moreover, as this story is not a modern type, the words and descriptions seems to be more and I need to read carefully to get the right points of the story. Yet, I think Pyramus and Thisbe is an interesting story and can be introduce to the secondary school level students. Students might find it interesting since it talks about the love line between Pyramus and Thisbe, how their love survived and resolved. I think students will enjoy this story.
